I was in lab and we had two fresnels right next to each other and one lamp was brighter than the other. Even when changing the intensities, the lamp on the right was far brighter and harsher than the one on the left. They were the same type of fresnel but I think one lamp was older so it wasn't as bright, even when it was full.
